I want you to get mad!

http://youtu.be/K91WIBsKu_Y

Beale: I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's worth; banks are going bust; shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter; punks are running wild in the street, and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it.

We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat. And we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be!

We all know things are bad -- worse than bad -- they're crazy.

It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out any more. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we're living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, "Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials, and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone."

Well, I'm not going to leave you alone.

I want you to get mad!

I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot. I don't want you to write to your Congressman, because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street.

All I know is that first, you've got to get mad.

You've gotta say, "I'm a human being, goddammit! My life has value!"

So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell,

"I'm as mad as hell,

and I'm not going to take this anymore!!"

Tolerance

Society has jumped through many fiery hoops within the last century,
Our relationships amongst each other have cause wars, pain, losses in love and changes in heart.
Along the way we have learned to tolerate others- the different and the odd.

We've overcome racism, sexism, and we're still learning to tolerate the people with a difference in sexuality.
Humanity has become a loving but greedy society.
A society where people can live amongst each other with different races and sexes without a problem, but will cheat, lie, and steal behind each others backs.

So I ask you, world, if we all got along in our little communities - didn't lie, didn't take advantage, didn't hurt, didn't manipulate, or steal from each other- would it create a snowball effect on the world?

Our actions and our feelings are contagious, spreading faster than any plague in existence, but because human nature is stronger than mother nature herself, we've become a comfortable but an unhappy society.
The simple actions of stealing or bullying will inspire others and those who have been inspired will pursue your previous actions and will continue on like a virus.

This has caused us to live in a free but an overly secure society. Constantly locking doors and windows behind our backs, carrying weapons before going on a peaceful walk, taming guard dogs to protect our family and property, hiring people to defend the weak, with the result of completely shutting ourselves in.

If we let go of our tension and shout out how much we truly cared for each other, others will shout with you and no longer will humanity need to be inspired to hurt one another.

Let us learn to respect each other and pursue kind and meaningful actions.
This world needs more hope and love that only humanity can supply and we can reach this goal with simple kind actions - one after another.

In the end, with patience and tolerance, we can take on the world and pass on these acts, enveloping the gift of tolerance for all countries, religions, beliefs and so on.
